Why are LLanwenogs Sheep so special?
Economic / Gwerth Am Arian
Ewes are medium size (c60Kg) so they won't eat you out of house and home. They are prolific - the norm is to have twins, long lived with notably good teeth. The lambs grade very well - pure or cross bred.
Easy to Manage / Hawdd Eu Trin
Llanwenog Sheep are remarkably docile and lack wanderlust - making stock tasks significantly easier for both the novice and commercial shepherd. Having narrow heads makes lambing easier and ewes are good milky mothers.
Excellent Quality Meat / Cig O'r Safon Uchaf
The breed produces a good carcass - R/U grade - c 20Kg - finished on grass. The added bonus is the quality of the meat - fine grained and succulent is it favoured by top chefs and quality butchers.

Interest in the breed has increased dramatically since it was first listed by the Rare Breed Survival Trust in 1994.
Mae’r diddordeb yn y brîd hwn wedi tyfu’n aruthrol ers iddo gael ei gynnwys ar restr y Gymdeithas Bridiau Prin yn 1994.
RBST help for a range of breed improvement projects and the creation of the English Support Group has brought about the establishment of many new flocks across England and Wales resulting in the breed progressing from category 4 “At Risk” to category 6 “Native Breed”.
Bu’r RBST yn gymorth i nifer o brosiectau ar gyfer gwella’r brîd ac mae creu’r gymdeithas gefnogol yn Lloegr wedi golygu mwy o ddiadelloedd yn Lloegr a Chymru fel ei gilydd. O ganlyniad i hyn mae’r brîd bellach wedi symud o gategori 4 “mewn risg” i gategori 6 “brîd cynhenid”.
Anyone considering the organic recommendations of the Soil Association ‘to maintain traditional, local or rare breeds of livestock to retain genetic diversity ’ would be wise to look at the strong commercial merits of the Llanwenog.
Bydd rhagoriaethau masnachol defaid Llanwenog yn siŵr o apelio i’r rhai hynny sydd yn ystyried argymhellion y Gymdeithas Bridd (Soil Association) “i gynnal bridiau traddodiadol, lleol neu brin er mwyn cadw amrywiaeth geneteg.”

Ystyrir y gwlan ymysg y gorau yn y DU gan ennill yn gyson gystadlaethau cnu a gwlân ar y carnau.
Mae’r cnu yn pwyso ar gyfartaledd 2.5kg ac maent yn boblogaidd iawn gyda nyddwyr a gwehyddwyr.
