provided by Dai Williams
The favourable ensured that there was a definite buoyant feeling at the 57th annual Llanwenog Sheep Sale and Show held at Llanybydder Mart on 27thAugust
2016. With stock selling to customers as far afield as Cumbria the popularity of the breed is encouraging. It was refreshing to see a number of newcomers
attend the sale; this can only be described as being an undeniable positive for the Society and the sustenance of the breed.
Mr Henson, chose the reigning Royal Welsh Champion the Alltgoch Ram exhibited by Huw Evans as his Champion which sold for£530. Champion Ewe was the well matured yearling presented by the Society’s President, Mr E Morgans of the Glwydwern Flock selling for £32 above average for £130.

The Society have now organised a supplier to provide us with a range of clothing with the Society's logo endorsed thereon. All orders will be made to order and therefore your Flock name etc can be added. order form.
Most of you will be aware by now that the Society have invested in the Grassroots system. This is a database specifically for Breed Societies to keep all their information in one place and to be able to extract relevant information/reports as and when required. However, it will only throw out what we have put in!
Therefore, when I receive all your Flock Returns this year, they will be entered on Grassroots and this will update all member's information. We will also be recording all paid Membership. If Membership is paid, it keeps you in the 'current' list and you will continue receiving all correspondence from the Society and will be included when we run the Flock Book report. However, any non-paid members will automatically be put in the 'lapsed' list and will not receive any further communication until payment of Membership is received. It will also mean that you will be unable to register sheep etc. This is something that was not easy to be able to keep track of previously and therefore some members may have paid membership late but still been able to register!
With regards the sheep registrations. The last 20 years of sheep registrations have been entered on the system! However, they are entered and currently attached to the flock who originally registered them. In order to get the system accurate, we need to get everyone's flock on Grassroots to match the actual flock in the field! Therefore, enclosed, is a printout from Grassroots of the list of sheep it currently thinks you have! Please go through the list and cross off anything that you no longer have. If you've sold them, just mark it sold (I don't need to know who to) and if you know it has died, please mark it as this! Please then add anything you have in the field which is not on this printout. Please note that I have not entered any of this year's registrations on the system yet and if you have sent them to me, no need for you to add them to this printout. For some Members, this is not going to be an easy task and therefore there is no time limit to receive these back, however, the sooner you do it, the sooner your Flock on Grassroots will be up to date and easy to manage!
From 1st October 2016, In order to keep your flock on Grassroots up to date you need to advise the Secretary when you have sold any stock and to which Member or just note to Non-Member. This can be done via Email, text or post. I understand that there is enough paperwork associated with movement, there is no time limit to advise the Secretary. You can request an Email version of your Grassroots Flock at any time.
19TH OCTOBER 2016 - This is the date that the various forms enclosed need to be returned to me by!
5TH NOVEMBER 2016 - AGM WEEKEND and all Ewe or Ram Registrations if you wish them to be included in this year's Flock Book/Ewe Registration booklets
