   Llanwenog Sheep Society

The Society, membership costs £20-00 per annum payable on 1st October,

There is a single (once only) fee of £30-00 to register a breeding flock (minimum 5 females), which must be headed by a registered Llanwenog ram. One does not need to own the ram - it can be borrowed or leased.

BREEDING RAMS
Rams are registered under the flock prefix of their breeder and an ear tag in the ram's right ear. The ear tag consists of a letter and a number The letter indicates the year of birth and is in accordance with that recommended by the NSA and comply with government regulations.

PLEASE NOTE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that when members are registering a ram which was NOT bred by them, they should make this clear at the time of registration so the ram is registered under the correct flock prefix.

Rams to be used for breeding are inspected ( must weigh 70 kgs or over) or ram lambs (35kg or over) For details contact the Secretary or see the Newsletter

There is an inspection fee of £10 and a registration fee of £10 Before registration all rams have to be tested for susceptibility to scrapie  Details of the inspections and scrapie testing are circulated to members at the appropriate time of the year.

REGISTERING EWES
Although the rams are individually registered, all ewes are registered as flocks, and the Society reserves the right to inspect the flock at any time and withdraw registration if there is any sign of other blood in the flock. There is a voluntary ewe lamb registration scheme by which members could register the details of individual ewe lambs with the Society. For 2009 £1 per ewe lamb (Minimum of £10) before the 1st October rising to £2 till 31st December
